MILITARY POLICE PLATOON
1. The UNDOF Military Police platoon is a UNDOF Headquarters sub-unit and is established to provide security and police services to the Force and UN interest within UNDOF's area of responsibility. Basically, it provides first line security and military police (SAMP) services to all of UNDOF's contributing contingents. The UNDOF MP Pl enforces UN regulations within its area of responsibility. National issues are handled by the respective contingents.
2. The UNDOF MP Pl has a total of 27 members and two military dogs. Out of these numbers, Canada contributes one Security Officer and five MPs. Poland and Austria provide other MP's. Since LOGBATT/CANCON does not have any MP's attached to them, the Canadian Security Officer is also the senior SAMP advisor to the CO CCUNDOF and may direct Canadian MP's to investigate national matters. The MP Pl is organized as follows:
a. MP HQ: co-located with C-Detachment in the Area of Separation;
b. A-Detachment: located in Camp Ziouani, Israel;
c. B-Detachment: located in Camp Faouar, Syria; and
d. C-Detachment: located in the Area of Separation, between the Israeli/Syrian gates.
3. MP Pl performs the following tasks:
a. Traffic control;
d. Investigations; and
e. Supervision - Area of Separation crossings.
